Update On Susan

As most of you now know (and for those of you that don't), our dear
friend Susan Schroeder was hospitalized last weekend after
experiencing severe ear pain and nausea. After what sounds like an
endless stay in the ER at Marin General, she was transfered to CPMC
in the city where she remains hospitalized today. The diagnosis is a
cavernous malformation in a vein in her cerebellum---the part of the
brain that controls balance among other things. It is a condition she
was born with but that had recently bled enough to cause the balance,
dizziness and nausea she was experiencing. The good news is that she
will get better and it is not life-threatening, though it may take
months for her to return to her usual energetic self. Right now we
don't know when she will get released from the hospital but it
appears she will need to go to a rehab facility before coming home,
most likely Kentfield Rehab Hospital.

Eric and Susan want you all to know that they appreciate all the love
and support everyone has shown them. At this time, she is quite
exhausted and they do not want to have any visitors or phone calls.
They will continue to keep us updated as to when she might be released.

On a seemingly trivial side note, since it was Susan who was lending
her supreme organizing skills to our family's meals, from now on
please just contact me directly on email at julian@noisenoise.com .

We hope to see you home soon Susan! Enough already!

Home Sweet Home

Karyn is back at home and is getting lots of time to spend with
Aidan, Lieneka and me. The weather in Fairfax is great and she has
already been into town to get a manicure/pedicure with her friend
Lisa Harris (nothing like getting those priorities in order!). Her
strength is noticeably better and she seems to be improving with each
passing hour.

Tomorrow is our big appointment at the Pine Street Clinic with
Michael Broffman, something we are eagerly awaiting. I will report
more once we have more information.

Homecoming Delay

Due to some home nursing snafus, Karyn will not be coming home until tomorrow. Almost there!

Coming Home!

Karyn just called here and said, "Come and get me." She's coming home!
