Update On Susan
As most of you now know (and for those of you that don't), our dear
friend Susan Schroeder was hospitalized last weekend after
experiencing severe ear pain and nausea. After what sounds like an
endless stay in the ER at Marin General, she was transfered to CPMC
in the city where she remains hospitalized today. The diagnosis is a
cavernous malformation in a vein in her cerebellum---the part of the
brain that controls balance among other things. It is a condition she
was born with but that had recently bled enough to cause the balance,
dizziness and nausea she was experiencing. The good news is that she
will get better and it is not life-threatening, though it may take
months for her to return to her usual energetic self. Right now we
don't know when she will get released from the hospital but it
appears she will need to go to a rehab facility before coming home,
most likely Kentfield Rehab Hospital.
Eric and Susan want you all to know that they appreciate all the love
and support everyone has shown them. At this time, she is quite
exhausted and they do not want to have any visitors or phone calls.
They will continue to keep us updated as to when she might be released.
On a seemingly trivial side note, since it was Susan who was lending
her supreme organizing skills to our family's meals, from now on
please just contact me directly on email at julian@noisenoise.com .
We hope to see you home soon Susan! Enough already!
