Home Sweet Home

I thought it would be nice to report how things have been going since
Karyn got home on Friday as I am sure many people are wondering.

When she arrived here, the EMTs carried her, eyes wide open, through
the back yard, up the ramp, through the kitchen, the dining room and
stopped in the living room. She was there staring at the large mural
on the wall, for those of you that have not been here, it depicts Mt.
Tamalpais and the seminary building. Then they carried her up into
our bedroom where she is now, resting comfortably in bed.

She is still awake at times and she is surrounded by family... me,
the children, her mom and dad, sister Eveylyn and soon to be sister
Erica as well as my mom and my aunt who has been monitoring her vital
signs off an on. There have been a few close friends who have also
visited and she has definitely acknowledged their presence. The
children have been nothing short of amazing through this stage and we
are all so happy that we made the decision to bring her home. The
kids can go up there at will to see mommy. Aidan goes up there and
acts as if nothing is different, he makes little Lego rocket ships
and explains them to her, gives her things to eat and sometimes just
goes up to kiss her hand. He has made us all so proud---he is a
wonderful little man, an obvious offspring of Karyn. Lieneka
similarly has no hesitation to go up there, lay little toys next to
her, grab her hand or lay her head down on her shoulder. There is
nothing her that is not peaceful.

The days are filled with the normal things she loved so
much....children playing, people cooking, talking, watering the lawn
outside here window, etc. While she can't really communicate much with
us any more, it is definitely obvious that she is taking in all of
her surroundings.

Julian,
You are an amazing person. I remember when you both bought the house Tami telling me how much you loved Karen and how touched she was by that. We have been keeping you in our prayers. I imagine a long chain of your friends and families laying hands on your family. I hope that energy gives you all strength at this time. God Bless, Kate, Todd, Emily and Woods Novak

You don't know me, but a friend of a friend recently emailed and asked that I pray for you and your family.

I have been reading all the posts on your site and your story has touched me deeply. Reading your posts and seeing the posts and pictures of your friends, it is clear that you are an amazing family.

My heart goes out to you and your family. I rejoice with you that you were able to bring Karyn home.

Morning and evening your family comes to mind, and I find myself praying for you, your children and all those who have known and been touched by Karyn's life.

May you feel the very real peace and comfort that comes from the One who is above all things, even when we don't understand the whys.

Sincerely,
Melissa (in Latvia)

I just checked in to find this devastating news. My heart aches for you all. This challenge is beyond what anyone should ever endure and you are meeting it with more grace and courageousness than could be imagined. I am awed and inspired by your strength, a gift that Karyn so deserves.

Karyn is blessed to have a family with hearts the size of mountains. Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers. Big love and support in this most difficult of times.

Julian, Bob and I want to thank you for so generously letting us all share in your journey with Karyn. I'm sure you know how much we all love you and how proud we are of you. Karyn was a lucky gal to have you for a husband! Lieneka and Aidan are fortunate that you are their Daddy. We hold you all in our thoughts....Love, Linda and Bob Lynn
